Volunteer Program Fees 2016/2017
WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO VOLUNTEER IN KENYA?
You have to understand that our volunteers pay fees in order to help us sustain, and cater for, local projects and communities that Jambo Volunteers supports. Your fees enable us to directly contribute to the goals and needs of your placement. The resources with which Jambo Volunteers is working are very limited and it is impossible for us to support your costs for meals, accommodations, transportation and supervision.
VOLUNTEER FEES INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:-
Airport Pick-up: On Arrival in Nairobi and Departure: Once you give us your flight details, our project coordinator and a driver guide will be at the JKIA airport to pick you up and drop you off at your accommodations.
Orientation course : This course includes important pre-departure information as well as an on-site orientation on the local culture, and its’ history and customs. This course is to be attended at your arrival in Nairobi.
Administration – Placement arrangement: Your placement arrangement and your well being while volunteering with us is our big concern and priority and we ensure that your placement is secure and safe. Our project coordinator will provide 24 hrs Assistance and support that you may need at any step, along with our supervisor who will always assist at the ground.
Accommodations/Meals: We carefully select host families that will help you connecting you to the culture and social, economic and political events in the community and country. You will be provided with three meals a day and you will be flexible to intervene and assist in cooking/food preparation etc. if you are willing to do so.
Transportation to the project: Volunteers are transported to and from their placement location by shared bus/shuttles regardless of their end destination.
Certificate of Completion/Participation: You will be provided with a certificate showing your participation in a Jambo Volunteers projects and you will receive a recommendation letter as appreciation for having chosen to volunteer with us.
Farewell: On your last day a farewell event is organized either at the host family, School, or at the Community resource center of your placement as a way of appreciating your time and ability to give to our community in need. It is a day of exchanging gifts and celebrating for having successfully worked with people you didn’t know before and to whom you will have provided a great service.
