Our Projects

Kibera-school-project

Jambo Volunteers works at a grassroot community level on education and community development interventions, particularly in the communities of Maasailand at Kajiado and Kibera Slums in Nairobi. We collaborate with local self-help groups of these communities, namely the Maasai Good Salvage Outreach (MAGSA-Outreach) and the Kibera Recycled Bone Products Self Help Group.

The general objective of our projects is the improvement of the living conditions and perspectives of the communities we collaborate with. The different projects tackle various problems and offer sustainable solutions to the beneficiaries. The main problems in the communities are unavailable job opportunities, limited access to education, lacking sanitation infrastructure and unreliable access to drinking water.

The objective of the projects in Maasailand is to assist the Maasai communities to solve the problems which are faced by the members of this tribe nowadays. Besides the above mentioned additional problems are deficient agriculture, insufficient grazing lands for the animals as well as the challenges faces by a community in transition. Find out more about our projects in Maasailand.

The focus of the projects which are implemented in cooperation with the self help group in Kibera currently is to assist the orphaned and vulnerable children with basic education, and to create employment opportunities for the youths and the community as a whole. Find out more about our projects in Kibera.

There is still a long way to go and we are always working on putting into practice new ideas and approaches. Please read the information about our future projects and get involved in the current activities of Jambo Volunteers.

To learn more about our recent activities please check the reports about our finished projects.
